Jordan Derkack’s relentless effort fulfills Rutgers’ pursuit of the intangibles

Jordan Derkack might just be another one of those Rutgers basketball players that nobody can really describe what he does because he does things that don’t show up in the box score. At least, that’s the reputation he has earned through his first two games.
To be clear: The junior guard, who arrived as a transfer from Merrimack College this offseason, is not a glue guy yet, but he’s certainly proving to be a foundational piece that coach Steve Pikiell needs to round out his lineup. On a team led by high-impact freshmen, scorers who can hit from anywhere and specific role-players, it’s the guy doing a little bit of everything making a big first impression.
